Archaeologist Fred Assmus, long-time leader of the Incorporated Orange Co. Chapter NYSAA has died. Fred's unquenchable thirst for knowledge took him to sites and museums throughout New York and beyond. He was also active in the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. Fred was well known for his countless lectures on NY and PA area archaeology; his specialty was Native American ceramics, especially Garoga vessels.
He is survived by Sharon, his wife and long-time NYSAA stalwart.
