On April 1st (no joke) members Clif Patrick, Fred & Sharon Assmus, journeyed to Palmer Township, PA, just outside of Easton, where Clif told the story of how he became the Chapter's "Accidental Publicist."

A lively discussion period followed with the members of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology  Chapter 14, The Forks of The Delaware about the profound effects publicity has had on our Chapter over the last five years.

Prof. Ellie McDowell-Loudan, SUNY Cortland will speak at our May 21st meeting planning to discuss new information and current interpretations about the Miller Site and its relationship to other sites in Central New York.

"The Miller Site:  35 CO 32--What we've learned so far and what we hope to do this year"  The site near located near an old meander of the East Branch of the Tioughnioga River in Cortland County, NY, is more than a lithic workshop.  So far, three distinct areas of human activity have been found, one of which contained Late Woodland pottery sherds that are badly battered and fragmented.  The other two appear to be of Late Archaic times.  Our small crew, bad weather, and short field season limited what has been accomplished so far. We have enough to develop a better research plan for 2010 and ask for suggestions, too!
How's that for your "blurb" in the newsletter?
