Flint Mine Hill Field Trip 2013-04-14

Climbing to the top of Flint Mine Hill.
On Sunday, April 14th sixteen chapter members visited Flint Mine Hill. During the tour our flintknapping experts Gary Sipila and Joe Mlcoch described the various flint and flaking types we observed on the hill. Both those visiting the site for the first time and others who have been there before were amazed by this historically important site. We are very grateful to the Long Island Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association for permitting us to visit the site.

  1. I once visited it with some fellow students, and some other lithic resource areas, i.e,, Jasper Park, PA, Mt. Jasper, NH. I am curious, does the LI chapter own Flint Mine HIll resource, as it seems form the report?
