David Johnson to present "The Sacred Paramo" at February 18th meeting.

The Sacred Paramo – Sacred High Andes Wetlands
Chapter President, David Johnson, educator, photographer, researcher, water consultant, author, recently returned from Peru, will present a program about the Sacred Paramo.
To ancient civilizations sacred sites often related to unique places such as landscapes, geological formations or environments. The Paramo, located in northern Peru in the high desolate elevations, between the upper forest line and the permanent snow line, has all of these. Ancient cultures revered the Paramo as one of the most sacred places along South America’s west coast. Last summer I had the privilege of photographing and documenting the most sacred region of the Paramo for organizations trying to preserve it as a world heritage site. This program will describe its uniqueness and spiritual significance, and how we can use this information to better understand ancient traditions and customs.

This Program is free and open to the public.
