Past President Marilyn C Sternitzke passed away on April 29th.

Marilyn C Sternitzke, aged 94, passed away on April 29th.

She was the Chapter's President (1977-1978). She also served as Vice President.

She was also involved in numerous digs including the Sugar Loaf Mastodon, Rockelein Site, Roosa Gap and Ten Mile River Rockshelters. Marilyn was a dedicated volunteer who devoted time and enthusiastic energy to chapter and state association activities. Her name appears in the Bulletin of the NYSAA, the ESAF Bulletin, and she is acknowledged also the article about the Ten Mile River Rockshelter dig in Man in the Northeast (now Northeast Anthropology.

Her contributions were acknowledged by the NYSAA for Meritorious Service (1976) and the Orange County Chapter: Digger of the Year (1969), Most Active Member (1973), and Achievement Award (1978).

THE ARCHAEOLOGIST Vol. 7, July 2019 has been sent to the membership!

Join us for our Annual Picnic Sunday 7/14 at the Town of Mount Hope Park in Otisville.

 This will be rain or shine so let's hope for shine! We will have the atlatls and are excited to see any interesting items you may have questions about or just want to show and tell! The Chapter will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and fixings for our traditional strawberry short cake! Any contributions of salads, beans, snacks, dips, beverages or monetary donations are greatly appreciated but not mandatory!

If you are able to attend please let us know via ioccnysaa@gmail.com at least two days before the picnic so that we have a guesstimate for good stuff!
